Anyone remember Rainmates?
If anyone remembers the see through plastic fold-up "bonnets" called Rainmates that were popullar in the 1960s they still exist. They are being worn by lady vistors to this years convention. I was watching the convention hoards going past my front window in a rain shower and every other woman seemed to be wearing one of the things. Does anyone sell them in Keswick? If so I'll get my old mother one to remind here of old times.

Re: Anyone remember Rainmates?
Guesthouseowner, I noticed these a few years ago and mentioned to my daughter that the only time we see these in Keswick is at Convention time. She thought they must sell them somewhere near the tent. I had a look over the plywood stalls lining the streets near the tent but did not see any.
Then last year my daughter went to Quebec for a while - and sent me back a little parcel. It contained a plastic rainhat similar to those the conventioners wear. On the bag it is called "Bonnet de pluie de grand-maman" - grandmother's rainhat. I have not dared to wear it! Sue |

Re: Anyone remember Rainmates?
A workmate heard I was coming to Keswick again in August and wanting to avoid the convention time. He found this group on Facebook.
