Proection of our lakes

BASSENTHWAITE has been chosen for a national trial aimed at improving water quality in England’s lakes and rivers. Lessons learnt from it will be used to benefit watercourses across the country.

The Lake District’s fourth longest lake and the surrounding countryside is to benefit from a mission to protect some of the most important wildlife in Europe, including ospreys, fish dating back to the Ice Age and exceptionally rare plants.
