Best way to travel from Newcastle upon Tyne to Keswick?

Hi!

We are Finnish couple and we are going to stay at Keswick on the 12 of May for few days. We allready are on Newcastle on that time and are willing to get easiest way to Keswick? Is it good idea to take a train to Carlisle and then take a bus to Keswick? Which bus is the quickest and cheapest?

You can get the train to Carlisle and then bus to Keswick, the bus number is 554 which runs 3 times a day. You can also take the train to Carlisle and then train to Penrith. The X5 bus goes from Penrith to Keswick and runs every 2 hours.

I don't know which of these is the cheapest.

Also the X4 bus runs to Keswick from Penrith. That increases the options.
