New Year

Hi,

I Will be staying in Keswick for new year (1st time), was just wondering if there are any organised events for new year like fireworks for example planned to see the new year in.

Sorry but there won't be any special events. Everyone floods into the Market squre for midnight but unfortunately the clock doesn't chime so it's anyones guess as to when we reach midnight. You need tickets to get into some of the pubs but there are still plenty that you don't. If you go into the square you're unliiely to get back into a bar unless you know the person on the door.

Another alternative is to go up one of the hills, Latrigg being the easiest choice. I was up there in about a foot of snow about four/five years ago, you can see all the fireworks let off by the hotels and private parties. There won't be any snow this year though.
