On one of our many visits to The Lakes, we stayed in Keswick and visited somewhere where bears were carved out of wood and you could buy them or have the larger ones delivered to your home. I have forgotten the name of this place and have misslaid the leaflet we picked up at the time. Does anyone know where I am talking about and do you have a contact number or even their web address please? Many thanks to anyone who can help me.

You mean Derwent Bay Bears. Expensive but nice? I just looked and their web site is derwentbaybears.co.uk

Thanks Sue for the info. I know they are very expensive, especially the bigger ones but we have a corner in our garden where one might look really nice and it would be something a little different. Have to see how far the pennies will go!!

For me it is not the price really, but I live in the middle of Keswick with a small front garden and a back yard. One of those bears would just about fill either!!!

How lucky you are to live where you do! I have been visiting The Lakes and camping on the edge of Derwentwater almost every year for the last 20+ years and I love it. I have dreamt of living there with my dogs but unfortunately, it is only ever likely to be a dream unless I can win the lottery!

There's a guy on the Thursday and Saturday markets who also sells chainsaw carvings. His stall has a wide range of animals, planters and benches. He does a lot of shows and commissions so if there is something special that you want then he would be better than Derwent Bay Bears, he's alos quite a bit cheaper.

The guy on the market is called Ken, at the moment his stall is generally on the top section past the Moot Hall. He's always at the Saturday and Thursday markets.
