Petrol Cheaper on M6
Last week I found that unleaded was more expensive in Keswick than in service areas on the M6. Also cheaper in Penrith, so if you are heading to Keswick, save a few bob by filling up en-route.

We almost always go to Penrith to fill up (at Safeway - now Morrisons, where you get discount on fuel if you do your shpping there first), unless we have to go to Carlisle, in which case we fill up there.

If we need to, though, we do use the petrol stations in Keswick.

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
Can anyone tell me how much diesel is in Keswick? Coming next week in a friend's motor caravan which has a big fuel tank. Sad

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
I can't tell you the actual price here, but it is about 2p a litre cheaper in Penrith than it is in Keswick. We only have 3 petrol stations in the town and they seem to have the same prices at all three.

Have a good holiday here.

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
The Rheged centre seems to be the same price as Morrisons most of the time which is easier than going in to Penrith.

Try Carlisle for fuel
Last week I was in Keswick for a couple of days & needed to visit a branch of PCWorld before going back to Norfolk. I was told by the B&B owner that there was one in Carlisle, so planned to detour on my way home. As I was leaving I mentioned that I had better fill up with diesel - and was advised to fill up in Carlisle if I had enough to get there, which I did. I went to Asda, near PCWorld and paid 4p a litre less than the price in Keswick. That is a lot of money on a full tank and more than covered the cost of my detour.

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
Today in Keswick diesel was 102.9/litre and unleaded 99.9 - it pays to shop around!!!!

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
Unleaded now 101.9 in Keswick. I think diesel is now around 106

I ordered some groceries from Tesco.com which came with a 5p/litre voucher off fuel, so guess where I'm going to go to fill up.

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
Well I'm coming back to Keswick soon - only in my own car, rather than a very thirsty campervan! I'll still fill up in Penrith before coming into the Lakes, though. Hope the weather is good next week. Smile

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
Keswick fuel is not the most expensive in England although it may feel like it!

I just got back from York. Diesel on the A1 is 110.9p a litre. I think I saw one place at 111.9 :o

Re: Petrol Cheaper on M6
What is the price of unleaded in Keswick now? We are coming up in two weeks time (and counting).

Petrol is currently 100.9 here.
