Catbells
I'm coming up to Keswick with the family in a few weeks, and my little bro, who is 9, really wants to walk up catbells - I've actually never walked up it (never got round to it  ) and I was wondering how difficult it actually is - I take him on 6-8 mile walks most weekends, but mostly in flat woodland etc.
You reckon he'll be OK? "I took mushrooms and went to astroworld, and I had a real bad time..." "Yourrrrreee a moron! They are sacred, go back to nature." |

Catbells is a great first fell walk. It is really easy - I think Wainwright said that you could take your granny up there. There is a small bit where you may need to put your hands on the rocks to steady yourself, but the rest is like a stroll uphill!!!

it will be easy for a kid full of energy.
there was a news story on the local news show last week about cat bells. it was about the parking problem there. there are people who want to build a massive car park there believe it or not. when i have climbed cat bells i have walked from keswick. if you dont want to walk from keswick you can get the honister rambler to the start of the path. |

We'll be in the campsite at the top of derwentwater anyway, so its not far to get there - I only asked because, not having gone up myself, it looked pretty big from the bottom!
He's all excited that I'll take him now Perhaps he'll forget I promised to take him out in a boat! (I REALLY can't be bothered with the callouses...)
