Support rafters new bar
Seems some people object to Shane Sewell's plans to improve the facilities at the Rafters & County pubs by combining the two and forming a larger pub venue for locals and visitors to the town. This is not to be a club for young people, but for all people who enjoy a bit of live music, comedians and similar entertainment; something that has been lacking in Keswick since the Con club stopped having regular events.

There is a public meeting about the plans on Thursday 15 April at 4 pm in the Methodist Church Hall in Southey Street. Come along and support this new facility for all.

We come to Keswick about 5 times a year and were there last during the week before easter and I wish this club had been open then. The disco clubs are just too young and noisy for us 50 somethings :? so we would love to see a new venue in Keswick. Otherwise there is just the cinema, theatre and slide shows, most of which we have seen over the years. We went off to Carlisle one evening just to find some indoor entertainment. Found a nice pub with a folk singer.

Is there any news on this? Sounds like a good venue for us. Any nearby B&Bs that we could use? :?:

Rafters bar is on Southey Street in an area where there are a lot of B&Bs. There is an advert in this week's Keswick Reminder listing forthcoming entertainment, which I assume is in the existing bar. The extension work has not started yet.

Some people are still trying to stop the improvements at Rafters. I have been in a few times and it is something that we should have had all the time. Much better that we used to get at the Con Club. Locals and vistors seem to have a good time there so it beats me why they want to stop it. I run a busy B&B and really enjoy my rare evenings of relaxation.

pubs and clubs
since starlights has shut down, the popular 'disco club', there has been a serious lack of places to go and drink your cares away to trance music. If rafters is willing to fill the void, then good luck to them, but make sure the toilets are secure as not to allow drug consumption.

This is what we have resorted to.
