Hi,
we live in Lincolnshire and visit the lakes once or twice a year, but we are bringing a party of 8 with us this time,self catering.
can anyone reccomend any eating places that also serve decent veggy food?
Also, we liked the indian restaurant opposite stanger street last time we were up can anyone send us their phone/fax number so we can book a table.

The Rowan Tree in Grasmere serves good veggie food (phone no 015394 35528 <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.therowantreegrasmere.co.uk">http://www.therowantreegrasmere.co.uk</a><!-- w -->) or there is the Lakeland Pedlar in Hendersons Yard in Keswick (<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.lakelandpedlar.co.uk">http://www.lakelandpedlar.co.uk</a><!-- w -->) Finally the indian is the Lakeland Spice Indian Restaurant in Keswick 017987 80005... I can also recommend the Redfort Indian Restaurant in St Johns St, Keswick 017687 74328...... Happy eating!!!

I remember using the lakeland pedlar once before but can't remember what it was like.
I will post comments on anywhere we eat in a few weeks time.

I think the best vege restaurant in the area is the Quince & Medlar in Cockermouth. Peaceful & friendly ambiance and terrific food. They have twice won the Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year award. They get booked up well in advance, though.

Certainly agree that Quince & Medlar, Cockermouth is best Veggie restaurant in the area (in fact int he country since it again won the National Award in 2003). Important to note that it is open evenings only and you really need to book (01900-823579).It's the place for a special occasion. Dress code-smart casual. The Pedlar in Keswick is a great place for general visits.
