Bouldering In Borrowdale
I'm heading up to Keswick for the weekend with my girlfriend. She doesn't want me dragging her all the way to grange for me to do some bouldering (I usually do the stuff at the base of Goat Crag and further south on the route to Ambleside). I want to find somewhere near the lake. (Derwent water?) Is there anything I should avoid, or anything I really shouldn't miss? I was thinking of starting around Falcon Crag, but a lot of the best bouldering can be away from the big crags, so any help would be appreciated
Thanks! |

Sorry, its climbing low down (less than 10 meters usually) without ropes - any higher without ropes and its soloing.
I like it cos you don't have to lug loads of kit, just shoes and a chalk bag. |

For any advice on places to climb you should go to Needle Sports, just pop in and they will happily give you loads of advice. All the staff are keen climbers so you can't go wrong.
As it turns out though it is raining this weekend so the advice about the climbing wall is probably a good idea |

I went to the climbing wall, wasn't that impressed to be honest, but in Huddersfield we do have a brilliant indoor wall, so I'm not easily impressed. I ended up soloing a HVS on Falcon Crag on friday, it was early afternoon and the rock was dry. Not sure of the name of the route, its the one that starts from the tree down on the left. Felt ok till the O/H near the top, nearly fumbled a grab and s**t myself!
Never done a proper solo before, its definately different... |
