Nowhere to park
I came to Keswick last Friday morning and could find nowhere to park. I ended up queuing for a parking place for about 15 minutes. I would have gone elsewhere if it were not for the fact that I had two customers to visit in the town center.

Can anyone say when Keswick will get more parking places so that those of us who have to visit because of our jobs will be able to do so? :?:

Keswick has been very busy for the last couple of weeks because the Annual Keswick Convention is taking place, and last week was busier than usual at the Convention and also the first week of school holidays. The situation will ease this week, but there are bound to be some congestion on the town centre car parks at certain peak times. I hope you are not put off coming into Keswick because of this.

More parking places? Well that is regularly considered but no solutions have been founs so far. Even at the busiest times it is always possible to find a parking place, but perhaps not always as convenient for the Market Square as you would wish.

Hey, thanks for that. I did not know about this convention. What is it about? Walking, climbing or some other outdoor activity? I ask because, as you may have guessed, I represent an activity clothing manufacturer and was i Keswick to visit with our local retailers.

Add in that it was a Friday and I was pretty fed up.... :?

Sorry to disapoint you, but the convention is a religious one where they talk about the bible and sing for 3 weeks. I agree with you abouit the problems caused with parking and have had problems with conventioers before. This year I took only normal holidaymakers into my B&B and enjoyed it so much more. From now on thats what I'll do.

Come along the the public meeting on Tuesday 2nd September, 7pm at the Rugby Club to discuss the problems caused by the Convention - and hopefully how they may be solved.

It does seem that next year there will be 3 weeks of Convention - all in School holiday time, which is the peak time for holidaymakers to visit Keswick.
