Quieter areas
Hi all

I am coming to Keswick at easter with my wife and am looking for some quieter areas for some gentle mountain biking or walking, away from the most popular routes.

Ideas anyone? We will also need to hire bikes so any info on that would be good.

There are lots of bike routes. For quieter rides go to Whinlatter forest - plenty of forest trails to ride and not too aggressive. Nice for walking as well.

Another place is Loweswater, not many people go out there and also the back of Skiddaw.

Bike hire is easy in Keswick. There is also hire in Portinscale, over the bridge from the A66, just up the road from me.

Hi !!!

A few years back my boyfriend and I hired a tandum mountain bike from a hire shop close to the pencil museum. We went around Derwentwater on it which was great fun (we did nearly kill ourselves and innocent bystanders on it) but it was great fun! Tandums can be hilarious (but can cause arguments when one person does all the hard work!!!) ha ha

Well I don't think we will hire a tandem as the last time I rode one it nearly broke in half. Whinlatter Forest sounds good. Not too strenuous.

Thanks

We had a great time
Just thought I'd come back and say thanks, we had a really good time. We did some riding in Whinlatter Forest which was good and unchallenging and then rode over to Skiddaw House and came back on the side of Lonscale fell. Great stuff! We will be buying a bike for my wife before we come up again.
