Cars driving along the lake shore
I have for some years now been walking my dog along the path to Friars Crag at night and in recent months been quite disturbed by the increase in "Boy racers" driving up and down the beach by the boat landings and at quite a fast speed, not only is it a danger to walkers and dogs its very off putting to tourists, and spoils what is otherwise a very beautiful area, I'm sure this could be stoped very easily.

I use to go to Keswick school and was there for 7yrs. Boy Do I Miss the sights!

Boy racers are a pain in the behind....... but they are everywhere in the uk...... However I do agree with what you said....spoiling the lakeside is not on.

Cars on the Lakeshore
It's not just the boy racers who are spoiling things - I was down at the Lake on Sunday and there must have been at least 10 vehicles parked along the shore by the boat landings. It really spoils the view of the lake for everyone else!!!

Re: Cars on the Lakeshore
one of the worst offenders is the National Trust who drive their land rover almost to Friar's Crag and pollute that lovely path with hideously ugly A-boards.

I aggree in some ways that it's wrong to race down at the lake but on the other hand it's better than on the streets where there are people trying to sleep late at night where they would get more complaints about the noise etc! What keswick needs is something for the ever increasing young population to do! The problem is, keswick's a toursist town and young people just get put asside and expected to do nothing! Thats when we get bored and go somewhere like the lake to try and make exitement for ourselves! As for a couple of cars making marks in the gravel, walkers wear the ground down aswell but we welcome them just because they bring money to the town! So would young people if we had something like a arcade of something like that!

I am in agreement with the point that “Boy racers” are in abundance everywhere. Each year delivers a fresh batch of 17 year old lads eager to entertain the true independence a drivers license delivers. I lived in Keswick for sixteen years and recall the dreaded parking lot behind “Bryson’s” where the posse’s and there seat cover girl friends would congregate. I am in Vancouver now and the situation is not much different apart from the rapidly growing organization of illegal street races. If Keswick reaches this level then authorities will show immediate concern…in the mean time, just let boys be boys.
