a dissapointing experience
all, just returned from a camping trip to Borrowdale, used the same campsite as 30 years ago while backpacking, this time had the wife & 2 grandchildren with me. the only thing that had changed was the price , same unclean toilets, not even painted, no electric lights, no hot water, except from the highly priced showers, dishes to be washed in water you boil yourself, grass not cut in camping field.
How does it come in other tourist areas both at home and abroad, paying this price gets you all facilities, shower blocks etc. Its the old story if you refuse to pay there will be 100 behind you willing to pay for poor service. signed a dissapointed camper who is also a cumbrian feeling let down by cumbria. |

Re: a dissapointing experience
Tom, that must have been a disappointment, but obviously people still use that campsite despite (or because of) the lack of modern facilities. I would assume that the site is not part of a Nationally recognised inspection/award organisation, such as the AA or VisitBritain. These organisations continually encourage upgrade of all forms of accommodation service, including camping facilities.
