Live entertainment/Kareoke
Hi folks I am new on hear having just discovered you, but am not new to Keswick we have been coming for short breaks 3 or 4 times a year forthe past few years. We will probably be coming up again for a few days this coming weekend. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Golden Lion pub has entertainment on again, because i believe its changed landlords since my last visit. Also is there any entertainment on at the Conservative club next Saturday 23rd June. We usually go into the oddfellows too, and quite like a singer/Duo who play there called Andy James/Red Aura. Also are any bars doing Karaoke at the moment. Cheers in Advance.
Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Live entertainment/Kareoke
I have asked my daughter about entertainment as she still sometimes goes into Keswick on a weekend night. She only goes to Rumours now as she says that at 24 she is too old for the other places! She does not know about Kareoke as that is something she tries to avoid, and has not been in the Lion for some years.
I checked the Reminder and the Con Club have got a turn on this weekend, but it says nothing about next. Sue |

Re: Live entertainment/Kareoke
Cheers Sue....Blimey if shes too old at 24 i dont know what it says about me i'm 49!!!!! Have booked our accom now so will check in the reminder when we come up on Friday re the con. Its not really nightclub style entertainment we want, mainly live entertainment the odd night in a pub. But funnily enough Andy James who sings in the Oddfellows was in a club down our way (Blackburn) last night, and he will be on at the oddfellows this Friday and monday so we will be calling in there!
Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Live entertainment/Kareoke
Well I'm in my early 50s - and you will find me in Runours when I am able to get out. Like most Keswick folk we work 18 hour days.
I have not tried anywhere else for entertainment. They will all be full of tourists. 8O |

Re: Live entertainment/Kareoke
Last time we were in Keswick we went to Sweeney's bar near the Rohan shop. There was a live jazz duo paying some pretty good stuff. We will go there again when we return in 12 days time (and counting).

Re: Live entertainment/Kareoke
Saw Andy James as a solo act and also with his girlfriend (Red Aura) at the oddies on Friday and Monday last week, they were very good. Also saw a guy there on Tuesday called John Bowie who was simply dreadfull. Julio Geordio now appears at the Golden Lion fortnightly on Thursday and he plays soon good stuff, mixture of pop/rock classics with some modern stuff thrown in too.

Re: Live entertainment/Kareoke
Was in Keswick mid August on the sunday before Bank holiday and went into 'Rumours' pub at County corner. There was a Karaoke on that night but wasn't very well attended... I know most people have to work the next day but surely tourists enjoy a little entertainment ...
