World Heritage Status
Cumbria County Council is progressing the move towards applying for United Nations World Heritage Status for the Lake District, the final decision about which will be made by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

There are some conflicting views as to if this is a good idea for the business community in the National Park. If you have strong views either way then please make them on the Cumbria CC consultation forum at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.cumbriacc.gov.uk/forum/messages/852/852.html">http://www.cumbriacc.gov.uk/forum/messages/852/852.html</a><!-- m -->

Information about what this may mean is on the National Park web site at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/index/looking_after/projects/whs.htm">http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/index/l ... ts/whs.htm</a><!-- m -->
