Keswick Mountain Festival
I see a mention on this site about the Keswick Mountain Festival taking place next year. This sounds like the sort of thing I'd be interested in coming to, so is there any other information yet? Will camp sites be already booked for this?

Hi Jim

Yes, the Keswick Mountain festival looks like being an exciting event for anyone interested in th great outdoors! It will take place 16th to 19th May next year, with a large range of different activities. There is a lot of support from various organisations and suppliers/retailers.

There will be a dedicated web site at keswickmountainfestival.co.uk, so keep an eye on that.

Accommodation will be hard to find as we get closer to the event, so book as early as possible!

Booked!
Thanks mate. Have booked a B&B for the mountain festival - the girlfriend insists we have a real bed to go back to so no camping allowed! The B&B owner didn't know about the festival. Looking forward to it.

We tried to book a Keswick B&B for this festival and they were already full. We have booked for the whole week though at a place we like a little wayoutside Keswick. Looking forward to doing something different.

We went to the Kendal mountain film festival a couple of years ago and enjoyed what we saw, but this sounds more like a "hands on" mountain fest.

Hey Wanderer I thought you could only holiday out of term time?

I won't be here next May as I have got a job in France for 3 months next year, April - June. Hope you put a report on this board for me to read - it may be France but they still have the internet. Big Grin

Hi Paulette. That has changed. The school Gina works at closed at the end of last term due to "consolidation of resources". She now has a real job. Big Grin Less money, longer hours and shorter holidays but she is a lot happier!! It does mean we can get up to the Lakes at different times and avoid all those teachers.

What's going to be in this mountain festival for us elderly locals? We can't walk great distances any more as arthritis etc takes it's toll, and we are a substantial proportion of the population of Keswick. The people who come for the jazz every year are our sort of people, getting on in years and very friendly, but who would come to a mountain festival? Anoraks?

Grumbler, you have something there. Doesn't seem too popular with people wanting to book to stay here, either. A youngish sounding woman enquired about accommodation for the weekend of the event, but when I asked her if she was coming for the festival she asked for more information about it. And decided to come for a weekend in June instead.

As ever I have had a lot of interest from people wanting to stay on the Saturday night only, but we don't take them. You can't enjoy Keswick if you can only stay for a single night!
