DissussedRailway Route?
Could someone please advise as to a short walk along the dissused railway line starting in Keswick.
I've heard it's a short ish easy walk with a nice pub for lunch along the route. I'll have a group of kids not use to walking up the hills. :?: and a very old dog thats fit for nothing. :? Best Regards, Molyneux's |

The old Keswick to Threlkeld railway line is a good walk, with bridges over a river and tunnels to go though. It is about 3.5 miles from Keswick swimming pool, where it starts to the end of the line at Threlkeld and another half mile or so to the village pubs. Then, of course it is 4 miles back again.
For a short (3 miles) easy walk we like the path around Buttermere, but last time we were there it was very busy. Get there early to park. There are 2 pubs in Buttermere village. Hope this helps. |
