Honister Quarry
Hi

I saw the owner of Honister Quarry has won an award. I'd like to visit the quarry but my wife suffers from mild claustrophobia. Does anyone know if the quarry visit entails being in treally confined places? If so I'd have to go on my own.

Honister mine
Hi.

I visited Honister in September. It's actually a mine not a quarry.

When you go on the mine tour (which is very good value for money) you climb up quite a steep path to get to the entrance of the mine, although they do provide transport for anyone who feels they can't walk up.

Once at the top you enter the mine which gets quite narrow and you have to duck for several short passages, so it's probably not best to take someone who is claustrophobic into the actual mine.

However, there is a very nice gift shop and visitors centre on site so your wife could be easily entertained there whilst yu explore the mine.

Hope you go and enjoy yourselves - the views from the top of the Honister path are worth the trip alone.

Regards. Smile

Thank you both. Sounds like a good idea to leave my wife in the gift shop, while I take our cards & money with me so she can't spend too much.
