This Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June 2011 sees the holding of the 15th annual Keswick Beer Festival a charitable fundraising event organised by the Keswick Rugby Club and Keswick Lions Club. Held in a large marquee on the Keswick Rugby Club ground and already a sell out for this year, this event was started in 1997 and now attracts nearly 6000 Beer enthusiasts over the two days. In 2010 there were over 250 barrels of beer, lager and cider to sample, needless to say, it was not compulsory to try them all!
In addition to the beers there are also burgers and other culinary delights, and a great range of entertainment with popular bands playing each evening. This year's festival is sponsored by Lancashire brewer Daniel Thwaites who will be bring their own range of ales along for people to sample.
The Festival itself is always held on the first weekend in June and tickets go on sale on-line traditionally in early December each year, initially from a stall in Keswick's Saturday market and then from the website, www.keswickbeerfestival.co.uk - so make a note now for next year. Saturday tickets are usually sold out within a month of going on sale.
